Albany Street goes through the center of New Brunswick, and across the Raritan River, which divides New Brunswick from Piscataway. Route 18 runs along the river, on the New Brunswick side. Before New Brunswick's face-lift of the late 70's, the intersection was just a stop light, and Route 18 just ended at Albany Street. The police station where Klaus and I drank our beer was near this corner. Since that time, Route 18 has been extended into Piscataway, with plans to extend it further.
