Home -> What's new (and old) -> Explanations -> Eastern time

Why is the time last updated given in Eastern Time?  If you're wondering, it's probably because you know Graeme lives in California.  The answer is that our Web Hosting Service, SoftCom Canada, has its server in the Eastern Time Zone.  I use FrontPage to maintain the site, and FrontPage has a feature to have the server automatically update the timestamp using the Server's idea of the time.

By the way, while you've been reading this tripe, the "links" page has continued to load in the background.  You see, I paid attention to your needs when I designed the link that took you here so that it would open a new window in your browser.   I even added this dopey paragraph so you'd take longer to read about time zones and other drivel and not notice how darned long it takes to load the "links" page.

Now hit Alt-F4 (that means hold the Alt down while you press F4) to return to the previous web page.

Use your browser's button to return to the page you came from.
